How much will the Google Pixel 3 Cost on Black Friday?
It might be too early to give any solid Google Pixel 3 price predictions, as this is a very new release. the Pixel 3 was only released in the US on Oct 18th, and won’t be available in the UK and Australia until Nov 1st. This is right before the deals period, but we are still holding back excitement about the possibility of Google Pixel 3 Black Friday deals.
Historically, flagship smartphones (and most other products), don’t run significant discounts right after launch. That said, Google Pixel products have had seasonal sales in the past. We have enabled a Google Pixel 3 Black Friday Price tracker for 2o18 and will be listing price movements and discounts on this page.
The Google Pixel 2 was the tech giants flagship last year and one of the best smartphones released in 2017. In 2018, we’re pleased to say that the Google Pixel 3 steps it up once again. In our tests, the camera quality was outstanding, the AI was worthy of, well, Google, and the performance was extremely fast.
Wrap that inside Google’s exterior design, which is becoming something quite iconic, and you’ve got what we think is one of, if not the best smartphone in 2018. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone this year, and you’re not in a rush, we do think it’s worth keeping an eye out for possible Google Pixel 3 Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals as we approach the Thanksgiving deals period.
Google Pixel 3 and Pixel XL key features
The Pixel 3 isn’t dissimilar from the Pixel 2 in that it still has the stylish 2 tone design which is in part shiny and the rest matte. The back of the phone is entirely made of Gorilla Glass 5, which allows for better connectivity than aluminum and also faster wireless charging which is a first for the Pixel.
The Pixel 3 is small enough for most to use in one hand, which we thought was refreshing in today’s smartphone market. The XL, on the other hand, is likely to be too big for most people to use with one hand. The main difference in design between the Pixel and Pixel XL is that the XL has the notch at the top of the phone, where the Pixel does not. Many people don’t like the notch, so this may factor into your decision as well.
The Pixel comes with USB-C earbuds, so although there’s no headphone jack, you won’t have to buy separate Bluetooth headphones if you don’t want to.
In terms of colors, there’s less to choose from than with the Pixel 2. Pixel owners will have the choice of ‘Just Black’, ‘Clearly White’ and ‘Not Pink’.
The Pixel 3 has a 5.5-inch OLED screen which is rich in color with more pixels per inch than the Pixel 2, there is still bezel with the standard Pixel, as there doesn’t seem to be any way of getting around the front-facing cameras and speaker without either bezel or a notch. The Pixel 3 XL opts for the notch option, which some may not like. The screen with the XL is 6.3-inch OLED so its considerably bigger.
We’re confident the Google Pixel 3 has one of the best cameras on the smartphone market in 2018. It’s not necessarily the hardware that’s groundbreaking, the Pixel has a somewhat underwhelming 12.2MP camera, which is nothing on flagships like the Huawei P20.
The magic happens behind the scenes with Google’s new dedicated Pixel Visual Core chip. In true Google style, it also has advanced machine-learning software which makes for clearer, sharper and more detailed photos. The Pixel 3 camera works well in low light and at night, digital zoom and image stabilization.
The Pixel 3’s front-facing 8MP wide-angle cameras are also excellent. We love the wide angle as it makes selfies with groups of people so much easier. The quality was also great with very little noise and again, working well in low light and at night.
In terms of video recording, the Pixel 3 supports 4K at 30FPS recording and also has great image stabilization.
Software and Processor
All Pixel phones are now compatible with Android 9.0 Pie, and the Pixel 3 and XL will run this software right out the box. The Pixel has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which is somewhat standard for flagships in 2018, with the exception of some phones like the iPhone XR. They also both come with 4GB RAM, and either 64GB or 128GB storage.
There’s no expandable storage via SD card slot, so your max storage will be either 64GB or 128GB depending which model you choose.
The Pixel has a 2,915mAh battery and the XL a 3430 mAh battery. Both models have 18-watt fast charging and Qi wireless charging. The charging stand has your phone upright which we thought was pretty useful as it allows you to communicate with notifications and Google assistant in a similar experience to Google Home.
The battery is a bit of a letdown with the Pixel and is much smaller than some of Huawei’s models which pack huge batteries. But, at least it is larger than the Pixel 2. Generally speaking, the battery should last the whole day, but if you’re taking lots of photos or using the Pixel a lot throughout the day, you’ll probably need to charge.
