Could there be any Razer Phone Black Friday deals?
You may have read the specs and decided this is the gaming phone for you, but it doesn’t come cheap! We think that the release date being timed just one week before Black Friday is no coincidence and are predicting some Razer Phone Black Friday deals to be put out. Based off the sales data of other Razer gaming products, we could see discounts around 10-20%. However, this is an entirely new product so it is hard to make an accurate prediction. Be sure to return here for any Razer Phone Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals and news we find as we approach Nov 24th.
New Razer Phone: What Features Make it Good for Gaming?
If you are thinking about buying the Razer phone on Black Friday 2019, you probably want to know what makes it good for gaming. Razer are a company best known for their gaming equipment and accessories, including keyboards, mice, headsets and laptops. However, with the upcoming release of the first ever Razer Phone they are now moving into uncharted territory with a phone designed and optimized for gaming. The release follows the acquisition of Nexbit earlier this year, with the design drawing inspiration from the original Nexbit Robin. Find out more below.
Razer Phone: Release Date, News & Features
- Pre-Order: November 1st
- Ships: November 17th.
Design wise, the Razer phone looks pretty similar to the Nexbit Robin. It has a boxy look with sharp edges and large bezels. This goes against the current bezel-reducing trend that we have seen in new releases like the Samsung Note 8 and OnePlus 5T, but it is for a reason. For it is within these bezels that the impressive speakers are housed, with Dolby ATMOS and THX certified audio for a rich sound experience. The device doesn’t feature a headphone jack, but an audio dongle is included. For a phone designed for gamers, we thought this was a strange decision.
- 120 Hz UltraMotion™ screen
- Dual Front Facing Speakers with Dolby ATMOS and THX certified audio
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with 8GB RAM
- 12MP Dual Cameras
- 4000 mAh Battery
- 64 GB internal storage with expandable microSD slot.
Why is this phone good for gaming?
Aside from the the speakers, what else makes this phone good for gaming? The 5.7-inch LCD QHD may sound similar to a lot of other flagship smartphones, but the display has a 120Hz variable refresh rate that can handle up to 120 fps. This enables a more fluid experience with smooth animations. The metal frame is also designed to act as a sink to dissipate heat whilst playing intensive games. Another feature is the Game Booster App that lets you optimize your settings for gaming, such as prioritize resources and change the resolution.
Right now you are probably wondering what you can do with all this gaming power. Razer have been working with game developers to enable their games to take advantage of the phones specs. Some of the games that are frame rate unlocked include Pokemon Go, Shadowgun Legends, Final Fantasy 15 and Arena of Valor.
Overall we really like the Razer phone and think it has some pretty cool features. Although, a lot of the specs aren’t actually any different from some other industry leading smartphones, so whether it will actually provide a richer gaming experience will depend how much you value the high refresh rate and other features. The sharp and boxy design isn’t particularly attractive and the decision not to include a headphone jack seems odd. There are also currently limited games at that can take advantage of the devices power. That said, this probably wont last long and we look forward to more games in the future. We would certainly be more inclined to buy it if there were any Razer Phone Black Friday deals!
